An ATM surcharge is a fee charged to non-customers who use the machines for cash withdrawals. This fee is over and above any transaction fees charged by your bank or card issuer. While the fee can vary, typically ranging from $1.25 to $3.15, it's a way for ATM owners to cover maintenance and operational costs. To avoid these, search for "surcharge-free ATMs near me" that don’t impose these additional fees, offering a cost-effective way to access your cash. To find your nearest ATM, use the locator within the myWisely® app or visit mywisely.com.
A surcharge-free ATM is one that does not impose additional fees for withdrawing cash. These ATMs are usually part of a network that includes financial institutions and many retailers who have agreed to waive these fees. Note, that you may still face transaction fees; however, using a surcharge-free ATM means no extra charges from the ATM itself. This makes it a financially smarter choice, especially for frequent users or those traveling. To find these machines, the myWisely® app provides easy access to free surcharge ATM locations nationwide.
Yes, withdrawal limits depend on the specific surcharge-free ATM, meaning the financial institution has set a daily withdrawal limit. Some ATMs may have lower transaction limits. If both limits apply, the lower one will determine the maximum you can withdraw per transaction. It's important to check the myWisely® app and your cardholder agreement to understand the specific limits for your account.
